Man accused of taking infant hostage wanted by authorities

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Police are searching for a man who evaded arrest after allegedly holding an infant during a SWAT standoff Saturday.
Hogansville police responded to reports of a possible shooting along Lawrence Street at around 11 p.m. Friday. When they arrived, a man was seen running away.
Police were not able to catch the man, but they said they found narcotics and a firearm.
The next day, authorities returned to the location in response to a “disturbance.” When officers arrived, they saw the same man, later identified as Jarmmal Cox, in a Jeep.
Traffic light falls on person riding a motorcycle in Aiken County
Sweetwater Road at Edgefield Road was shut down due to an accident involving a motorcycle, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

According to authorities, Cox hit a Hogansville PD patrol car as he was trying to escape, and police chased after him.
During the chase, Cox reportedly crashed near Dickinson Street and Green Avenue, got out of the vehicle, and ran away.
A perimeter was established, and other units were called to help apprehend him, including a LaGrange Police Department K9 unit.
The K9 tracked him back to the Lawrence Street address. Police said they were told Cox may be armed and had possibly taken an infant hostage.

Authorities say they tried to negotiate before entering the home where the child was found unharmed. Cox, however, had ran away, according to Hogansville police.
Cox is wanted for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and fleeing and eluding.
He is also wanted on outstanding warrants from other jurisdictions, according to authorities.
