NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A motorcyclist died after an incident on U.S. Highway 25 near Sweetwater Road, South Carolina Highway Patrol says.

53-year-old Jammy Weaver, from Johnston, S.C., was traveling south on Highway 25 when he crashed into a low-hanging power line from a downed traffic light around 10:30 p.m., officials say.

16-year-old dies after police pursuit ends in crash

A 16-year-old from Barnwell County is dead after a police pursuit ended with a crash, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

A traffic stop turned into a vehicle fire on Old Jackson Highway after the suspect drove away...

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office responded and pronounced the motorcyclist dead on the scene at 11:10 p.m.

Originally, dispatch said a traffic light fell on Weaver, but SCHP and Aiken County Coroner’s Office now say the motorcyclist struck a power line from a downed traffic light, spilling into the roadway.

The motorcyclist was riding a 2004 Harley-Davidson, SCHP says.

3rd suspect arrested in Augusta Smoke Shop murder

A third suspect has been arrested in the January armed robbery and murder of Abdallah Rubeha at the Augusta Smoke Shop.

Smoke Shop, located at 2303 Lumpkin Road

An autopsy is scheduled for next week in Newberry, according to Darryl Ables, Aiken County coroner.

The investigation is ongoing.
