2 arrested after shooting incident, standoff with Richmond County SWAT

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Two people have been arrested after a shooting on the 2400 block of Bahama Drive in Augusta on Monday, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say they responded to Bahama Drive in reference to shots fired.

Upon arrival, deputies say they located one male subject who advised he had been shot at by multiple subjects.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were able to take two suspects into custody after a brief standoff with the Richmond County SWAT team.

Investigation is ongoing, deputies say.

This is the fourth SWAT incident in Augusta within the last month.

Bicyclist dies in crash on Peach Orchard Road in Augusta

A pedestrian has died in a crash on Peach Orchard Road and Willis Foreman Road on Monday morning, according to officials.

On April 29, 58-year-old James Jackson was arrested after Richmond County deputies and of the U.S. Marshals Task Force attempted to arrest him at a home located on the 2000 block of Clark Street.

The situation escalated into a barricaded incident when deputies approached the home, which prompted the activation of the Richmond County SWAT Team for assistance, deputies say.

On April 24, 26-year-old Terrell Crawford was arrested after he barricaded himself near the 1400 block of Hunter Street.

Crawford had barricaded himself after allegedly shooting at a family member, according to deputies.

On April 22, the team dealt with a similar situation on Wylie Drive at Mike Padgett Highway. The suspect ultimately surrendered and was arrested.
