53-year-old woman dies after early morning shooting in Warrenville

WARRENVILLE, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that killed one person on Monday morning.

Deputies say that shortly before 2:30 a.m., they responded to a home on the 100 block of Whaley Street in Warrenville for a reported shooting incident.

On scene, deputies say they went inside the home to find a deceased female with what appeared to be at least one gunshot wound.

Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables identified the victim as 53-year-old Cherie Hewitt.

Hewitt was pronounced dead on scene at 3:10 a.m., according to the coroner’s office.

The Coroner’s Office along with the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office are continuing with the investigation and interviews are being conducted.
