Richmond County sheriff chases down shoplifting suspect
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Richmond County’s sheriff chased after and caught a shoplifting suspect while shopping at local store.
It happened Friday at the Walmart on Wrightsboro Road.
42-year-old bicyclist dies in crash on Peach Orchard Road
A bicyclist has died in a crash on Peach Orchard Road at Willis Foreman Road on Monday morning, according to officials.

Around 5:03 p.m., the store’s loss prevention manager, Crystal Halford, approached Sheriff Eugene Brantley and said a male had just left the store without paying for merchandise. She said he ran toward North Leg Road near the Wife Saver restaurant.
Brantley ran after the suspect, catching him on a side street near the east side of the store, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Two responding deputies took custody of the suspect.
Georgia Power plans to freeze rates under deal with regulators
The Georgia Public Service Commission staff and Georgia Power have reached a deal to freeze base rates for three years.

“It’s all in a day’s work,” Brantley said, noting that his staff deals with this sort of thing on a daily basis.
