AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Richmond County deputies are investigating a shooting that occurred on Lyman Street on Monday night.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says the shooting happened on the 2500 block of Lyman Street at 7:20 p.m.

The victim was shot at least one time and ran to an AutoZone for help, according to deputies.

Allendale mourns teenager shot dead just days before graduation

SLED is investigating the death of an Allendale County teen days before his graduation.

An Allendale County student has died, according to the Allendale County School District.

The sheriff’s office says the victim was taken to Wellstar for non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies say the investigation is ongoing as of Tuesday morning.

This follows a shooting in Aiken County on Monday morning that left 53-year-old Cherie Hewitt dead in a home on the 100 block of Whaley Street.

Hewitt was pronounced dead on scene at 3:10 a.m., according to the coroner’s office.
