Lakeside tennis finishes as State Runner-ups
EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Lakeside Panthers Girls’ tennis team wrapped up another impressive season, finishing as state runner-ups for the second consecutive year.
This year’s championship match took place in Milton, where the Panthers faced off against one of the toughest programs in Class 5A. It was a challenging battle, especially considering this was a reclassification year for Lakeside, making their return to the finals an accomplishment in itself.
The Panthers entered the state finals undefeated in region play, showcasing their dominance throughout the regular season. Unfortunately, the final match marked their first loss—but it came on the biggest stage, and against a top-tier opponent.
Despite the outcome, Lakeside’s consistency and resilience have cemented their place as one of the elite tennis programs in the state.
The Panthers lost 3 sets to none.
