COLUMBIA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A South Carolina congresswoman is making more shocking allegations and calling on the public to state investigators about her troubling claims.

Earlier this year, U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace gave a speech on the floor of the U.S. House in which she accused four South Carolina men – including her former fiancé – of crimes including rape and voyeurism.

Mace says she’s among the victims.

On Tuesday, the Lowcountry congresswoman renewed those claims in a House Oversight subcommittee hearing that she was chairing.

S.C. prosecutors have doubts about legislation to fight fentanyl

Prosecutors in South Carolina disagree over whether an expected change in state law will help them stop the deadly trade in fentanyl.

Mace showed photos she claimed were intimate images of victims – taken without their knowledge or consent, and with hidden cameras.

We can’t what’s in these photos – because they’ve been blurred and altered – which Mace says is to protect the identities of the people pictured.

First Amendment Attorney Jay Bender says while most people could open themselves up to defamation lawsuits by making claims like these, Mace is protected under the U.S. Constitution as a member of Congress.

“Nancy Mace or anyone else could say the most outrageous things in connection with their legislative activity and be protected,” Bender said. “I do not believe that that protection extends beyond legislative activity and certainly should not extend to political activity.”

S.C. attorney general backs ‘Take It Down Act’ signed by Trump

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson was among those showing for a new bill signed by President Donald Trump on Monday.

One of the men Mace has accused is already suing her for libel and defamation.

SLED has confirmed it has opened an investigation into accusations of assault, voyeurism and harassment – involving Mace’s former fiancé, Patrick Bryant

In a statement Bryant said he “categorically denies” Mace’s claims – saying her accusations are false, malicious and deeply personal.
