HIGHLAND, Ark. (KAIT/Gray News) - A school district in Arkansas is in mourning after a student died in a crash on the way to school.

On Monday, the Highland School District announced a junior at Highland High School died in a crash.

School officials did not identify the student but said they were “traveling from out of town to school on Monday morning when the accident occurred.”

“Our Rebel family is grieving this loss, and we extend our deepest sympathies to the student’s family, friends, and loved ones,” the district said in a news release. “As we navigate this difficult time, we ask our community to keep the family and our entire school in your thoughts and prayers.”

The district said it would provide for students and staff in the coming days.

This is the second student in this school district to die in a crash this school year. Brooklynn Grace Pendarvis was killed on Sept. 13 on her way to school.
