23-year-old arrested in relation to crash that killed bicyclist
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A woman has been arrested in relation to a crash that killed a bicyclist on Peach Orchard Road on Monday, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Kyania Lashawn Graddy, 23, was arrested on Tuesday, according to jail bookings.
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office says 42-year-old Jolene Davis died in the crash.
Deputies say they responded to the intersection of Peach Orchard Road and Willis Foreman Road at 4:44 a.m.
On scene, deputies say they learned Davis was traveling northbound on Peach Orchard Road at Willis Foreman Road when she was struck by a vehicle.
According to arrest warrants, Graddy struck the rear of Davis’s electric trike and failed to stop or to return to the scene of the accident.
Davis was pronounced dead on scene at 5:32 a.m. Monday morning, according to the coroner’s office.
The coroner’s office says an autopsy has been scheduled.
Graddy has been charged with 1st degree homicide by vehicle, hit and run/leaving the scene of an accident with death or serious injury and following too closely.
Graddy’s bond is set at $12,640.
Aiken County deputies investigate shooting on Whaley Street
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting on Whaley Street on Monday morning.
This isn’t the first time a person has died on Peach Orchard Road this month.
On May 5, Camden Poole, 8, was killed in a crash on Peach Orchard Road at Tobacco Road. Poole was a student at Hephzibah Elementary School.
Also in the area, on May 7, another two-car crash happened on Mike Padgett Highway. Andrew Pregel, 58, died in that accident.
And on May 8, 56-year-old Darrell Walker died in a crash at Deans Bridge Road and Dover Street.
