EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Over the next several days, graduation ceremonies are happening at the Evans Towne Center Park.

On Thursday morning, students at Greenbrier High School had their graduation.

We spoke with some of the graduates after the ceremony.

Graduate Monisha Ganeshbaby says she’s excited to start college and get started with her next chapter.

Authorities still working to solve 2022 Bamberg killing of 37-year-old

It's been nearly three years since 37-year-old Latoya McMillan was shot dead on Ho Street in Bamberg. Authorities still haven't caught her killer.

She says her faith in God and her hard work helped her get to where she is today, and she shared this advice for students still in high school.

“Just take chances, don’t be afraid to take those chances,” said Ganeshbabu. “That’s where you’re gonna find really good opportunities, you’re gonna meet great people. So don’t be afraid to be bold, step out, and just take a leap of faith.”

Ganeshbabu says she plans to go to Mercer University to study biochemistry and molecular biology with a concentration in pre-medicine.

Another graduate we spoke to says she is nervous for the future but is happy to complete her school career.

She has some advice for underclassmen.

“Be yourself, enjoy it cause it goes by really fast, connect with people, bring some joy into the atmosphere, and just try new things, find what you love,” said Paige Harrell.

Harrell says she plans to attend Wake Forest University for political science and theater, and then go into the Army and then law school.

“Well I’ve been to three high schools because I am a military kid so I have had a ton of different experiences and things to do I’ve won theater awards from all over the place because that’s my thing and you know academic things and some french awards here and then just thriving in every place I go is the biggest accomplishment I feel,” said Harrell.

On Wednesday night, Evans High School had its ceremony at 6:30 p.m.

It was packed with crowds as families cheered their students on.

One graduate tells us she’s still trying to wrap her head around this.

“It feels good. People be asking me, ‘Are you ready?’ And the honest answer to that is not yet to be honest. It hasn’t fully set in yet, but I’m super excited for all the opportunities that Evans High School has given me and all of the things in my future to come,” Lillian Lee-Sin, graduate.

She plans to attend Duke University in the fall.

Evans and Greenbrier are followed by Harlem High School on Thursday evening, and Lakeside and Grovetown High Schools on Friday.

A heads up, the parking lot and dog park will be closed until Saturday because of the ceremonies.

Also on Thursday, seniors from Richmond County schools visited Warren Road Elementary for one last walk-through before finishing school.

The senior walk is a chance for high school seniors to visit their elementary school one more time, and for students there now to connect with older students.

Faculty and students alike cheered on the seniors during their walk.

The school’s principal and former teacher to some of the students says it’s exciting seeing them come back.

“To see these kids from fifth grade, some of them from kindergarten, we’ve known them that long, and to see them graduating with honors and chords, it just brings chills,” said Sherry Phillips, Warren Road Elementary School principal.

Millbrook Elementary School is hosting a senior walk on Friday.
