Body found in shallow grave under Augusta’s 15th Street bridge
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A body was found in a shallow grave near the 15th Street bridge near Riverwatch Parkway on Tuesday evening, according to Richmond County deputies.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says at 5 p.m., the homeless operations team received information that a body may have been previously buried under the bridge.
The Criminal Investigation Division and Crime Scene Unit began a coordinated search and excavation operation along with the Homeless Operations Team.
During the investigation, a body was recovered from under the bridge, deputies say.
Officials respond to suspicious death at Bon Air Apartments
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office went to the Bon Air Apartments on Walton Way for a suspicious death.
According to deputies, the remains will be transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab for autopsy and identification.
