Singer Jim Morrison’s stolen grave bust found after 37 years

(CNN) – Police in said a sculpture of The Doors singer Jim Morrison that disappeared from his gravesite in Paris decades ago has been found.

The bust of Morrison has been missing for 37 years after it was stolen in 1988.

The charismatic frontman of the 1960s psychedelic rock band The Doors died in 1971.

He was just 27 years old.

Authorities said the recovery of the bust came from a chance discovery during a police investigation.

Morrison’s grave tends to attract music fans and is one of the most popular graves to visit in Paris.

Crowds gather every year on the anniversary of his death on July 3.

The bust left at his grave was created by a Croatian sculptor. It was installed on Morrison’s tombstone on the 10th anniversary of his death.

The manager of Morrison’s estate said they are happy to hear of the statue’s rediscovery.
