North Augusta project receives 2025 Engineering Excellence State Award
NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A City of North Augusta project has received the 2025 Engineering Excellence State Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia.
The city’s project won the award in the small projects category.
Bank sues Augusta Mayor Garnett Johnson over unpaid business loans
Wells Fargo Bank has filed two lawsuits against Augusta Mayor Garnett Johnson and his wife, according to court documents.

The city says that the award recognizes a transformative four-in-one project that s the vision of making North Augusta a true destination city.
Project highlights include:
- 350 additional seats at the Sharon Jones Amphitheater
- Upgraded stormwater drainage
- Lighted landscaping and walkways
- New public restrooms
- A new public dock with 7 boat slips
- A scenic park plaza with benches and a ramp to the dock

City officials say CRANSTON Engineering provided civil/structural engineering and landscape architecture for the project.
“We’re also grateful for our project partners Booker+Vick Architects and RD Brown Contractors, Inc. for helping bring this vision to life,” city officials said in a post to Facebook. “This award is a testament to what thoughtful planning, community investment, and great partnerships can achieve.”
