Ronald Acuña Jr. a healthy scratch from Stripers lineup, indicates return this weekend vs. Padres
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. was scratched from the Triple-A Gwinnett Stripers’ lineup against the Louisville Bats on Thursday. He is expected to be activated from the injured list Friday ahead of a three-game series against the San Diego Padres, according to multiple reports.
The Braves have not officially moved him off the injured list.
If activated on Friday, Acuña’s return will come three days shy of the first anniversary of his left ACL tear.
Acuña had been rehabbing in Triple-A for the past week, rehabbing in five games for Gwinnett and hitting .417 with a 1.465 OPS and a solo home run. He had seven walks in 19 plate appearances.
The 2023 NL MVP has been out since last May after suffering his second torn ACL injury in under three full calendar years. He made his return the first time around just eight months after his injury. This time, the team played it extra careful and took its time.
Friday’s game against San Diego will be broadcast live on Braves on Gray. First pitch will be at 7:15 p.m.
