Man arrested for allegedly killing a chihuahua puppy by putting the dog in his oven

ATMORE, Ala. (WALA/Gray News) - An Alabama man has been arrested on animal cruelty charges after he allegedly killed a puppy by putting the dog in his oven.

According to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded Monday to a residence on Cruitt Drive after receiving a call about an injured animal.

Deputies said they found a deceased chihuahua puppy in the driveway with serious burn injuries.

Authorities said James Williamson had reportedly put the dog in his oven due to the animal’s excessive barking.

Williamson turned the oven on and placed a chair in front of it so it couldn’t be opened, investigators said.

The Atmore resident was taken into custody and is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.
