Pres. Trump reiterates tariff threats
Promises 50% for the E.U, and 25% for Apple
WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - President Donald Trump is threatening another major U.S. trading partner and a prominent American company with major tariffs as he looks to negotiate new trade deals and increase domestic manufacturing.
President Donald Trump is warning the European Union and Apple they may face tariffs on goods sent the United States.
In a Truth Social Friday morning, Trump threatened a 50 percent import tax on all goods made in European Union countries starting June 1.
The threats come as the U-S is attempting to negotiate a new trade deal with the E-U.
In his post, Trump cites current trade barriers which he says have led to a trade deficit.
In a separate post, he threatened tech giant Apple with 25 percent tax on iPhones unless the company starts manufacturing them domestically. During an interaction with the White House press corps while g executive orders, Trump had this to say, “You know, the iPhone, if they’re going to sell it in America, I want it to be built in the United States.
Trump also confirmed to reporters that the phone he uses to create his social media posts and take phone calls is an iPhone.
The U-S currently imposes a 10 percent tariff on most imports, including those from E-U countries.
Tariffs are taxes paid by the company importing the good or product and it’s often ed onto consumers.
