AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A Richmond County Marshal’s Office employee has been terminated after an investigation into misconduct, the agency says.

On Wednesday, the marshal’s office says it became aware of an allegation of misconduct involving former Sergeant Brittney Brown.

An investigation was conducted, and it was determined that Brown violated Richmond County Marshal’s Office policy.

28-year-old killed, another injured in shooting at Augusta apartments

One person has died and another was injured in a shooting at the MacArthur Park Apartments in Augusta on Thursday night.

The agency says Brown was immediately terminated as a result.

“Due to the nature of the findings, the case was turned over to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office CID for further investigation.

Officials say that after the internal investigation, Brown forged documents and stole time in connection with military leave, along with violations of agency policies and possibly state laws.
