AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Peach State soccer ends next week, and Westminster’s boys team will once again play in the GIAA state title game.

We spoke with coach Shawn Brower on what it will take to 3-peat as champs.

Dominant performances through the postseason normally equal success on the biggest stage.

On their route to a fourth straight GIAA state championship appearance, Westminster’s boys soccer team didn’t give up a single goal.

The only thing that stands between them and the program’s second-ever 3-peat is themselves.

Head coach Brent Dorn is feeling more confident going into this year as the Midland Valley football coach, as players embrace new roles.

“If they play to their potential, I think they’re going to really like the outcome, and I don’t see why they wouldn’t play to their potential in a game like this,” said Brower.

Seven seniors headline coach Brower’s team.

None of them know what it feels like not to make it to state.

“Two years ago, when we won it, we were pretty young, and now it’s a special team,” said Brower. “We’ve got seven seniors. Most of them played in the state championship last year, the year before, so it’s always fun to end the season with a state titl,e but when you’re a senior, it’s extra special.”

After breezing through the competition, Brower says the team is ready to dominate one final time this year.

“They’re kind of like race horses that are waiting for the gun to go off and just fired up to play,” said Brower. “You know, last game we won 8-0, the game before 10-0, and they’re like ‘we need some better competition, coach,’ and I’m like it’s coming, it’s coming.”

And there’s no better test than a state title.
