ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU/Gray News) - The body of a man who broke through a river in Alaska while riding an ATV in March was found and identified Friday, according to officials.

Alaska State Troopers said the body of 32-year-old Skye Rench was identified after a private pilot discovered it Thursday near the mouth of the Susitna River.

Rench fell through the ice on March 6 while crossing the river on an ATV with Sean Kendall, who was also reported missing.

Officials say Kendall has not yet been found.

Troopers recovered the body with the help of an Alaska Dive, Rescue and Recovery member and took it to the Wasilla airport.

It was then taken for an autopsy by the State Medical Examiner.

Rench was doing contract work for Alaska Directional, a drilling company with a remote project near Point Mackenzie that required crossing the river, according to his fiancée, Heidi Goozen.

He was also known for his love of snowmachining, and had competed in the annual Iron Dog race, a long-distance race billed as the “World’s Longest, Toughest Snowmobile Race.”
