Driver arrested in crash that killed 23-year-old on Deans Bridge Road
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - An Augusta man has been arrested in connection to a crash that killed a 23-year-old earlier this week, according to officials.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says 23-year-old Daveyon Tyshawn Williams was arrested on Sunday.
Xavion Wimberly, 23, of Hephzibah, died in the crash, according to the Richmond County Coroner’s Office.
The incident report states deputies responded to the 3200 block of Deans Bridge Road in front of Suz Lounge around 3 a.m. Sunday. in reference to a pedestrian struck.
According to the report, Wimberly was crossing Deans Bridge Road eastbound when he was struck by a southbound vehicle, which was driven by Williams.
Williams left the scene and was later located at the intersection of Deans Bridge Road and Meadowbrook Drive, according to deputies.
2nd suspect arrested in deadly shooting at Augusta apartments
A second suspect has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting at an Augusta apartment complex last week.

Officials say Wimberly was pronounced dead at 4:12 a.m.
Williams was transported to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center. He is charged with vehicular homicide, hit-and-run and DUI.
