Ex-Richmond County Marshal’s Office employee arrested after investigation
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A former Richmond County Marshal’s Office employee has been arrested after a t investigation with deputies into misconduct.
On May 21, the Richmond County Marshal’s Office says it became aware of an allegation of misconduct involving former Sergeant Brittney Brown.
An investigation was conducted, and it was determined that Brown violated Richmond County Marshal’s Office policy.
The agency says Brown was immediately terminated as a result.
According to officials, due to the nature of the allegations, the matter was referred to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation.
28-year-old killed, another injured in shooting at Augusta apartments
One person has died and another was injured in a shooting at the MacArthur Park Apartments in Augusta on Thursday night.

Officials say that after the internal investigation, Brown forged documents and stole time in connection with military leave, along with violations of agency policies and possibly state laws.
Investigators say they then obtained arrest warrants for Brown on charges of felony theft by taking and felony violation of oath of office.
“Brown was ed by investigators and, upon learning of the active warrants, voluntarily turned herself in to authorities,” deputies said.
Brown was booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center without incident.
