Two dead, dozens injured after car collides with Greyhound bus on Memorial Day
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. (WMC/Gray News) - Two people were killed and more than two dozen people were injured after a Greyhound bus crashed on Memorial Day.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a regular-enger vehicle and a large Greyhound bus collided on Highway 70.
A spokesperson for Greyhound said in a statement that 30 people were hospitalized after the crash.
“The bus was traveling from Memphis to Nashville. There were approximately 32 engers, one bus operator and one relief driver on board at the time of the accident. Thirty people were hospitalized, and most have already been released. Our team is actively investigating the situation and providing necessary assistance to our engers, the driver, and law enforcement,” the statement said.

Issac Solis, who lives down the street, said he heard the bang of the crash.
“When we were approaching the accident, we saw the truck was on fire. I was thinking, ‘This is serious, this is really serious,’ and as we got closer, we started helping people coming out of the bus, and we started seeing what we could do,” Solis said.
Another woman who lives next door to the crash site said they ran over to try and help in any way they could.
“People were trying to get out of the bus, and we had to get over and try and pop the windows out. So they were just falling out, and it’s a steep drop in the ditch and they were just falling to the ground and were trying to keep them warm until the paramedics showed up,” the woman told WMC.
Details about what could have caused the crash were not immediately released.
