3rd suspect arrested in Augusta murder of Wrens 16-year-old
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A new suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of Wrens 16-year-old in Augusta nearly a year ago.
Thursday morning, of the U.S. Marshals t Task Force apprehended 18-year-old Kieran Darnell Walters in Gwinnett County.
Deputies searching for man wanted for rape, aggravated assault
Leland Candidate is wanted for rape and aggravated assault for an incident that occurred on May 27 on the 400 block of Greene Street.
Walters was wanted on a murder charge in connection with the shooting of fatal shooting of Sadiq Antonio Brown of Wrens that occurred in the parking lot of A-Town Wings at 2622 Peach Orchard Road on July 5.
“The arrest was the result of continued investigative efforts and interagency cooperation,” Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Chief of Staff Lewis Blanchard said. “ of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, assigned to the task force, played an active role in this operation — reflecting Sheriff Brantley’s ongoing commitment to strong law enforcement partnerships and reducing violent crime in our region.”
Man accused of sexually assaulting woman during seizure
An Augusta man has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman during a medical emergency, according to authorities.
Previously, on Aug. 20, Malcolm Bryant, 18, was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in connection with the same incident.
News 12 also has reported that Deondray Denzell Donovan, 20, of Augusta, was arrested in January in connection with the case.
GBI investigates after Sparta 63-year-old found dead in the woods
At the request of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, GBI agents are investigating the death of John Wesley Thomas, 63, of Sparta.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office initially responded to a local hospital at approximately 10:55 p.m. on July 5, regarding a male who had been taken by vehicle with at least one gunshot wound. The victim, later identified as Sadiq Brown, was pronounced dead at 11:34 p.m. at Piedmont Hospital.
