Double murder suspect arrested in Taliaferro County
TALIAFERRO COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Taliaferro County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man wanted for double homicide on Friday.
The sheriff’s office responded to a 911 call from a motorist who reported a suspicious individual on the shoulder of I-20 around 3:41 p.m.
The male was described as wearing all white and a red baseball cap, kneeling with one hand raised.
A deputy arrived and made with the individual, who said he was armed.
The weapon was safely secured, and the male identified himself by name and date of birth.
A records check revealed that he was wanted out of Sumter, South Carolina, on an active warrant for pointing a gun at a person earlier Friday morning.
Authorities in Sumter County further advised that the individual was also a suspect in a recent homicide in Pinellas County, Florida.
During the investigation, the suspect itted to killing two individuals and said he had abandoned a stolen Nissan Pathfinder along I-20.
Neighboring counties searched the area, and Warren County Sheriff’s Office found the vehicle near mile marker 154.5.
The suspect was transported to the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office jail, where he awaits extradition to Florida on two counts of homicide.
