Man faces charges after woman’s body found under 15th Street bridge
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A 58-year-old man is facing charges after a woman’s body was found in a shallow grave near the 15th Street bridge near Riverwatch Parkway.
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office says 59-year-old Cindy E. Reese was found dead in a shallow grave under the bridge on May 20 around 5 p.m.
New details released in shooting on May Street in Johnston
The Johnston Police Department says one person was injured in the shooting that happened on May Street at 6:01 p.m.
An arrest warrant for Mitchell Perry Pelham alleges that on Jan. 1, he committed the felony offense of concealing a death to hinder the discovery of whether she was unlawfully killed.
Pelham was arrested Wednesday, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office says the homeless operations team received information on May 20 that a body may have been previously buried under the bridge.
The Criminal Investigation Division and Crime Scene Unit began a coordinated search and excavation operation along with the Homeless Operations Team.
Man arrested for alleged child sexual conduct in Beech Island
A man has been arrested after he was accused of criminal sexual conduct with a minor, according to authorities.
During the investigation, a body was recovered from under the bridge, deputies say.
The coroner’s office says Reese’s autopsy results are still pending at this time.
