Bojangles has deep roots in Charlotte, going all the way back to the first restaurant, which opened on West Boulevard in 1977. Since then, the chain has grown to include about 800 restaurants across 17 states.

Dozens of S.C. eateries falsely tout local shrimp, DNA tests show

Testing on food served at dozens of Charleston-area restaurants revealed that most falsely promoted serving locally caught shrimp.

Most of the restaurants sampled in the Wilmington area didn't offer local shrimp.

The chain has long been associated with the Carolina Panthers, and former team owner Jerry Richardson once had an ownership stake in Bojangles. Bojangles continues to be the Panthers’ “official tailgating partner” and has a deal with quarterback Bryce Young.
