First Alert Chief Meteorologist Riley Hale has loved weather since he was young. While living in Charlotte, N.C., as a kid, he endured one of the worst ice storms in North Carolina history that left him and his family without power for two weeks. He re having to sleep on an air mattress next to their wood-burning stove. Ever since that storm, he has been hooked. m5k29
Riley moved to Savannah, Ga., during high school and since he came from a family of Georgia Bulldog fans, he decided to attend the University of Georgia. While in Athens he completed his degrees in Geography, General Business, and completed his Atmospheric Science Certificate to become a meteorologist.
Riley ed the News 12 26 Augusta team in June 2017 after working two years for The Delta News in Greenville, Mississippi, as their morning meteorologist. He covered multiple tornado outbreaks while in Greenville, as well the historic March 2016 flooding that caused the worst damage in the region since Hurricane Katrina.
His hobbies are playing basketball, kayaking, fishing, and pretty much any other activity in the great outdoors. He is happy to be back closer to home and forecasting in the CSRA.
