Jamie Ertle

Jamie began working at WTOC in the spring of 2005 and has worn many hats since. She earned the rank of manager after producing The News at 6 and 11 and ed the weather team after completing her degree at Mississippi State (with the help of some classes at Georgia Southern-GATA!) 4m6a58

She was born in Charleston, while her father was stationed at Charleston AFB, moved to Indianapolis as a child, went to college in Florida, and couldn’t be happier to live and work in Savannah.

Jamie has used her off air talents to raise money and awareness for groups such as Court Appointed Special Advocates in their Dancing with the Stars rendition; she won best dancer and raised over $12 thousand. She is a “Big Wig” alumni for Susan G Komen Coastal Georgia, Bowled for AMBUCS Savannah, and is an advocate for Alzheimer’s Association.

While working at a tv station in Fort Myers, it was Hurricane Charley, a Category 4 hurricane, that ripped through the area that really inspired Jamie to go back to school. Fast forward to the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry’s recent hurricane season, the Georgia Broadcaster’s Association honored the WTOC weather team, including Jamie, with an Excellence in Broadcasting Award for their coverage of Hurricane Matthew.

Jamie has two degrees, one from the University of Central Florida in Broadcast Journalism and another from Mississippi State in Broadcast Meteorology.

She still loves the book Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and thanks her grandparents for watching the news every night, so she could watch the weather.
