Steven Schlink ed the WMBF News team in May 2024 as a multimedia journalist. 494u3h

He comes from North Carolina where he graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism, with a focus in broadcast.

While at UNC Chapel Hill, Steven reported, anchored and executive produced for Carolina Week, the school's weekly live student-run newscast. He also reported for UNC's Media Hub, an award-winning, in-depth storytelling class. One of his most memorable moments is covering the shooting on UNC's campus that took the life of a professor in August 2023.

In June 2024, Steven placed 3rd in the national championship round of the Hearst Journalism Award Television News category. The awards are known as the Pulitzer of student journalism.

Before ing the WMBF team full-time, Steven interned with the station in 2023, allowing him to really get to know the area. He also worked as an Associate Producer at WRAL in Raleigh, North Carolina where he developed his news judgement and honed his storytelling ability.

Some fun facts about Steven are that he is a bit of a weather geek and even has a storm spotter certification with the National Weather Service. Steven is also an aviation enthusiest and eventually hopes to get his pilot's license.

Steven loves to get to know people and considers it a great honor to get to share stories across the Grand Strand and Pee Dee. He encourages anyone with a story idea to connect with him!
