AUGUSTA, GA (WRDW/WAGT) -- The father of 1-year-old Lincoln William Davitte is struggling with the loss of his second born.

"I keep beating myself up thinking maybe I could have done more. Maybe I could have saved this from happening," said Tyler Davitte.

Davitte says he hasn't been able to see his son in months, which makes news of his possible murder all the more heartbreaking.

"Yeah, I can't stop shaking. I feel like my heart, my soul is literally gone. I don't even feel like a heart right now, so I feel like there is a huge like, hole, I can feel it," said Davitte.

Investigators say the boyfriend of Lincoln Davitte's mother is responsible for his death. Arrest warrants say Augusta firefighter, Charles Sconyers, "cause[d] signifigant injury to the head and brain of the victim child. Said injury causing the child to die."

"Thank God he doesn't have to suffer anymore," said Davitte.

The Augusta Fire Department released this statement:

"The Augusta Fire Department is greatly saddened by the death of Lincoln Davitte and send our condolences to the family. At this time, Mr. Sconyers is being placed on istrative leave without pay as a result of the allegations regarding the death of Lincoln Davitte. The allegations against Charles Sconyers are not indicative of the quality of personnel or services provided by the Augusta Fire Department.
