AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- A suspect is in custody after a shooting incident on Wrightsboro Road wounded a bystander.
Richmond County deputies responded to a report of gunshots around 9:30 p.m. Monday at Smart Grocery, 3221 Wrightsboro Road.
The clerk told deputies he saw a verbal altercation in the parking lot and went outside to try and de-escalate the situation. He said that after all of the subjects got into their vehicles, he started to walk back toward the store. He heard a gunshot noise, then looked down at his left hand and realized he had been hit.
The Richmond County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that Marcia Laquette Wimbley, 28, of Augusta had been taken into custody on suspicion of aggravated assault, cruelty to children in the first degree and possession of a firearm or knife during a crime.
